The HeartMan

Severe illnesses like heart disease and cancer are accompanied by pathological changes in biological rhythms, such as disturbed sleeping and waking and changes of breathing and circulation (heart rhythms). Applying the cutting edge advances in research of biological rhythms, such as Heart Rate Variability, allows the applying of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches towards effective health promotion, as well as prevention and treatment of illness. If our autonomic nervous system and our bio-rhythms are in a functional balance then we are capable of recovering from stress or strain without suffering any ill effects. If they are out of balance, we will start to become susceptible to ill health like hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, infectious diseases and possibly even cancer and premature aging. Research has shown that maintaining a balanced autonomic nervous system and healthy bio-rhythms (like high and harmonious Heart Rate Variability) have a beneficial effect on health, longevity and performance. A balanced autonomic nervous system also enhances the cognitive function (concentration, focus, memory, flexibility of response, intuitive insight, judgment and decision making).

The HeartMan is a highly precise 24hour ECG that measures and monitors every heart beat with very high precision (10-20x more precise than a standard ECG).

The HeartMan is:
  • very light
  • as small as two packs of matches lying next to each other
  • very easy to handle
  • will hardly be felt
  • comfortable to wear, for example on the belt.

  • It gives detailed bio-psycho-social information and feedback to support any process of diagnostic, advice or life coaching. The following information can be drawn from the ECG:

  • Biological age
  • Width of frequency and intensity of the Heart Rate Variability
(a powerful predicting indicator for cardiac disease)
  • Predominance of Sympathetic or Parasympathetic activity of the autonomic nervous system
  • Flexibility: Ability to adjust to challenging situations
  • Resilience: Appropriate, excessive or too low challenge or demand
  • Ability to recover: During day and night time, during work and free time (weekend)
  • Quality of sleep: Stages of sleep, depth of sleep, ability to fall asleep, arousal during sleep, recovery through sleep

The HeartMan has been developed by Max Moser, MD, Professor of Physiology at the University of Graz, Austria in cooperation with HeartBalance.
